Thanks for checking in again with The Fake Cheap. My blog posts came to a halt over the last 2 weeks or so as sickness has swept through our household faster than if we had went around licking door handles at the local mall. It has been a struggle, but it appears we’ve made it past the worst of it.
Just an interesting observation from a recent grocery store trip for today’s post. I set out to pick up some items, including the usual ingredients for our customary semi home made pizza. We usually buy a pre-made pizza dough ($8 for two) with sauce included, buy cheese ($5), and some veggies ($3). As you can see the cost of ONE of these pizzas comes out to about $8 and change, counting the tax. We may have a small amount of cheese and veggies left, or we may not. Now here is the kicker, you can buy a “quality” frozen pizza (the ones that I like, I realize not everyone may like them) on sale for $3.99, that is less that $5 tax in, AND all you do is throw it in the oven….DONE! No work, no cleanup! No wonder low income earners love to buy the frozen stuff, I mean it is so much cheaper. You can argue you don’t get the nutrition, the freshness, etc, but when you don’t have much money, this is an easy choice my friends. Yes, there is a whole separate argument here about why they don’t have enough money, or what their financial priorities should be, but that is for another post.
Anyway, I found the price difference was shocking after really thinking about it. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
